I also take total number of ratings into account when i rate a book because it’s so easy to skew the result and some won’t read books below a 4.0 (madness!). if a book has under 50 ratings and it’s really a 3 star read, i might put it as a 4 star (3.5 rounded up ;)) otherwise the curve is thrown off.
