Maori Kiwi Drawing After our amazing introduction with aunty paula, we explore artwork based on tohu symbols and patterns in traditional maori art, and then do an artwork bas. The maori legend of the kiwi bird is an important story in new zealand culture. tānemahuta, god of forests and birds, noticed his tree children were ill and called on the birds for help. however, only the kiwi bird agreed. it sacrificed its ability to fly to save the trees. as a result, it became famous and beloved.
