Failure to do so will result in severe damage to the intake manifold and to the engine! carefully remove intake manifold per the service procedure outlined in shop manual. clean all mounting surfaces. reinstall intake manifold per shop manual. tighten intake bolts as follows: stage one: 2 nm (18 in lbs) stage two: 25 nm (18 ft lbs).
Ford 5 4 3v Performance Intake Just a couple things that you might encounter taking out your intake manifold that i would’ve found helpful prior to starting. I appreciate the work and effort, but i still don't see the point of going with an intake like this just to restrict the opening to a standard elbow and throttle body. the 4150 flange allows for much better options. i understand its not so easily done if you want to use it on a 5.4l, but the 5.4l would benefit from it even more than a 4.6l would. 2004 2008 ford f150 5.4 3v imrc (intake manifold runner control) hi guys i need help, i have a 2004 ford f150 5.4 3v, after getting my engine repaired i took it for a test drive and got my cel on it was a p2006 imrc stuck closed bank 1 so my mechanic went ahead and replace the imrc with a dorman ( i couldn't. Keep in mind this crosses into the realms as 5.4 does with an 4.6 intake. adding a plate manifold head runners will draw the fuel atomization to not spray against the intake valve as it should. fuel combustion would be altered. if you relocated the plugs to spray on the same path as stock would benefit from the longer runners.
