Dodge Durango Radiator Replacement Overheating Fix It Youtube 4.7l running hot over heating 2001 durango. my 2001 durango has started to "almost" go into an overheating situation. i noticed this a couple weeks ago when it was hot (over 80 85 degrees outside), a c is on and not moving. when i first had the issue, i turned off the a c and started driving and it cooled right down. 1.with your truck being cold. 2.remove the rad. cap 3.start your truck. 4. let it idle till the t.stat opens. ( this will take a bit so grab your drink of choice) 5. have coolant there with you ( not a good drink of choice ) after the t. stat opens it will "puck out some coolant , refill the system.

Yaaaabuddy03 said: there are a few things it could be. thinking that it might be the water pump, or the clutch fan is on the right track. i would open the hood, and leave it idle for a little bit. if that clutch fan doesn't kick on, it's your clutch fan. as far as water pump i don't know how to tell if it's bad but, i would check into.
