March 29, 2014 at 12:15 am #583215. ericthecarguy. keymaster. this is actually a common leak on that engine. i believe it’s coming from the cam seal. btw the oil pump is run off of the crank on that engine. that said, the cam seal will leak and run along the side of the block in that location. If not, take a small pry bar and wedge it from the block. remove the oil strainer, then locate all the mounting bolts on the pump. loosen the hardware and remove the pump from the engine block. figure 5. remove the oil screen and pan from the engine. figure 6. remove the mounting bolts from around the pump.
